MALTA, ILL. - The Triton College baseball team made it a three-peat in 2018 by winning their third consecutive NJCAA Region IV Division I Championship on Saturday, May 12, courtesy of a 6-4 extra innings defeat of South Suburban College. The region title marks the 23rd in program history

The second-seeded Trojans blanked third-seeded Kishwaukee College (34-24-1) by a 4-0 final that featured a combined no-hitter by pitchers Alonzo White and Jack Snyder. Triton again posted a shutout in the semifinals, this time a 7-0 decison top-seed and host South Suburban College. The Bulldogs (38-19-1) returned to the championship series from the losers bracket and held Triton College without a run for the first time this postseason, using a narrow 2-0 win to force a decisive game two. Even at 4-4 in the 11th, Andy Gaytan drove in the game-winning run with a single to right. Sophomore outfielder Keith Kerrigan was named Region IV Division I Tournament Most Valuable Player after batting .588 (10-17) with three runs batted in and two scored.

Triton College (34-24) advances to the NJCAA Northern District Tournament in Council Bluffs, Iowa, from May 18-20. The Trojans will open against Region XXIV Champion and #7-ranked Wabash Valley College (44-9-1). The district tournament champion will qualify for the NJCAA JUCO World Series in Grand Junction, Colorado, May 26-June 2.
