Waubonsee's Lovesky takes home NJCAA Player of the Week honor
The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) has named Waubonsee Community College sophomore Gavin Lovesky as the Division III Baseball Player of the Week for March 11-17 (Week 8). The award is the first for Lovesky, and the first for the Chiefs.
Lovesky, a first baseman, batted .560 with 12 runs batted in and ten runs scored as Waubonsee has started the season 6-0. He went 14 for 25 at the plate with eight extra base hits, which included two triples and a home run to post a 1.040 slugging percentage.
Waubonsee Community College, which is receiving votes in the latest NJCAA Division III Poll, posted a 6-4 on a trip to Florida and will host McHenry County College in their home opener on Friday, March 22.
