Gile of Madison earns Region IV DII Player of the Year
Madison College sophomore Nick Gile was named the Player of the Year as the top vote-getter on the 2019 Region IV Division II All-Region Team. Gile, a second baseman, also leads the list of the region's All-American nominations that includes pitcher Matt Hamilton of Madison College, catcher Ryan Parquette of McHenry County College, outfielder Nathan Aide from Madison College, and designated hitter Carlos Del Valle of Morton College. The WolfPack led all teams with six all-region honorees, including five first team selections, while McHenry County College, Carl Sandburg College, and Kankakee Community College each had four.
Gile, a native of Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, posted a .429 average, 66 hits, 56 runs scored, and 53 runs batted in to rank seventh in all four categories in the region. During the season he became Madison College's all-time leader in RBI and doubles. Gile, who stole 12 bases on the season, registered a .976 fielding percentage with three errors.
