UPDATE: Highland falls in opener of NJCAA DI Championships

Highland Community College lost its first game of the NJCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship by a 70-53 final to St. Petersburg (FL) College. The Cougars end their season with a 27-7 record. D'Angelo Jackson led the way with 17 points and ten rebounds, while Deang Deang added ten points.

The Highland Community College men's basketball team defeated Kennedy-King College 89-86 in overtime to win the 2017 NJCAA Region IV Division I championship. The Cougars advance to the NJCAA Division I Men's Basketball National Tournament in Hutchinson, Kansas, which runs March 20-25. Highland earned the #20 seed will begin play on Monday, March 20 against #13 St. Petersburg (FL) College.

The 2017 NJCAA Region IV Division I Men's Basketball Tournament will come to a conclusion at Highland Community College, and the host Cougars will open postseason play as the bracket's number one seed. Quarterfinal games will begin on March 2 with six teams in action, all looking to join Highland in the semifinal round on March 4. The championship game will take place on March 6, with the winner to qualify for the NJCAA District IV Championship on March 11. The NJCAA Division I National Tournament is in Hutchinson, Kansas, March 20-25, 2017.
