Region IV to name yearly awards after legendary coaches Don Klaas, Wayne L. King, Jr.

The NJCAA Region IV is proud to announce the renaming of two annual coaching awards in honor of two legendary coaches. From this point forward, the Region IV Men's Basketball Coach of the Year will be named after former College of DuPage coach Don Klaas, while the Region IV Baseball Coach of the Year will be named for former Joliet Junior College coach Wayne L. King, Jr.

The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) released its list of All-Americans for the 2018-19 basketball season, and 12 student-athletes representing NJCAA Region IV were recognized. The group includes six each in men's and women's basketball, with four First Team All-Americans, one second team honoree, four third team selections, and three honorable mention accolades. Highland Community College, Madison College, and Rock Valley College led all scores with two selections each.

Golden Eagles finish runner-up in DIII, Milwaukee places fifth in DII

Rock Valley College reached the NJCAA Division III National Championship Game for the fourth time in five year and came away with the program's second national runner-up finish with a 72-60 final in Rochester, Minnesota. A week later, Milwaukee Area Technical College earned a fifth place finish in its debut appearance at the NJCAA Division II National Championships in Danville, Illinois, while Morton College suffered two losses in the same tournament.

Region IV will be well-represented when it comes to men's basketball teams playing in the national stage this month, as four programs have qualified for their respective national championship tournaments. Rock Valley College will compete in the 2019 NJCAA Division III Championships, Milwaukee Area Technical College and Morton College both advanced to the 2019 NJCAA Division II Championships, and Triton College will compete for a second straight national title at the 2019 NJCAA Division I Championships.

Milwaukee Tech, Morton survive as Region IV Division II District Champs

SUGAR GROVE, ILL. - A pair of fresh faces came out on top of the 2019 Region IV Division II Men's Basketball Tournaments as Milwaukee Area Technical College and Morton College claimed the District 3 and District 4 titles, respectively. On Saturday at Waubonsee Community College, the third-seeded Stormers, playing for the first time in Division II, defeated defending champoin and top-seeded South Suburban College 75-72, while top-seeded Morton College got over the hump for the first time in a decade with a 75-67 defeat of second-seeded Bryant & Stratton College.

A guard and a forward/center took home top billing as sophomores Rhyss Lewis of South Suburban College and Josh McAuley of Waubonsee Community College were selected District 3 & 4 Players of the Year, respectively, to headline the two NJCAA Region IV Division II Men's Basketball All-Region Teams. The duo were joined by Lewis' teammate Chris Johnson, as well as Shannon Sanford of Milwaukee Area Technical College and Tyrone Rhivers of Morton College, as the region's All-American nominees. The Panthers, who won the District 4 Championship, led all teams with three postseason honorees, while fellow District 3 champion MATC-Milwaukee, South Suburban College, Bryant & Stratton College, and Waubonsee Community College each received two selections.

His future might be playing at NCAA Division I University of Oklahoma, but in his present moment, Triton College sophomore Alondes Williams is taking care of business in 2018-19 and earned Player of the Year status as part of the NJCAA Region IV Division I Men's Basketball All-Region Team. Williams will received the region's top All-American nomination, while Luka Barisic of Highland Community College and Kendrick Robinson of Olive-Harvey College will also earn nominations for All-American. The Trojans, who won the Region IV Division I Championship after moving up from Dvivision II this year, had one representative on the all-region list, while Highland Community College led the way with three honorees.

Triton College conquers Region IV Division I with championship in first year back

JOLIET, ILL. - One year after winning the NJCAA Division II National Championship for the first time in program history, the Triton College men's basketball team took on a new challenge by moving up to Division I. On Monday night at Joliet Junior College, the top-seeded Trojans found a way to conquer the first major hurdle, winning the 2019 NJCAA Region IV Division I Men's Basketball Tournament Championship with a hard-fought 78-71 victory over second-seeded and two-time defending region champ, Highland Community College. Triton College, which had won six Region IV Division II crowns, is atop the Division I bracket for the first time since 1985-86.

Madison College's Adam Anhold strung together consistently productive games en route to being named the Region IV Division III Player of the Year and putting his name atop the list of the 2019 NJCAA Region IV Division III All-Region Team. Anhold will also receive the region's top All-American nomination, followed by consideration for Kelvin Cortez Harvey of Elgin Community College and Nana Kodom-Ayensu of Rock Valley College. This year's nine-player list features three selections each from the WolfPack, Spartans, and Region IV champion Golden Eagles.

Hillard of Daley College selected NJCAA DI Player of the Week

The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) has named Richard J. Daley College's Clavone Hillard as the Division I Men's Basketball Player of the Week for February 18-24 (Week 15). The award is the first such honor for Hillard, and the first of the season for the Bulldogs.

Rock Valley College claims first Region IV championship in three years

PALATINE, ILL. - For the first time since the 2015-16 season, Rock Valley College can call itself the 2019 NJCAA Region IV Division III Men's Basketball Tournament champions after defeated Elgin Community College 85-68 on Monday at Harper College. The top-seeded Golden Eagles, which had lost in the title game in each of the past two years, rallied past the second-seeded Spartans to earn their first championship under new head coach Tim Sandquist.

The NJCAA Region IV Hall of Fame is pleased to announce an 11-member induction Class of 2019. The group includes five athletes, six coaches and administrators, one contributor, and one national championship team that excelled during their time competing in Region IV.

The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) has selected Luke Davis of Kishwaukee College and Nana Kodom-Ayensu of Rock Valley College as the Division II and Division III Men's Basketball Players of the Week, respectively, for November 12-18 (Week 3). The honor is the first of its kind for both Davis and Kodom-Ayensu, as well as for the Kougars and Golden Eagles programs this season.

Fast start earns Waubonsee's McAuley the NJCAA DII Player of the Week

The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) has named Waubonsee Community College's Josh McAuley as the Division II Men's Basketball Player of the Week for November 5-11 (Week 2). The honor is the first for McAuley and the first for the Chiefs in the 2018-19 season.
