Fast start earns Waubonsee's McAuley the NJCAA DII Player of the Week

The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) has named Waubonsee Community College's Josh McAuley as the Division II Men's Basketball Player of the Week for November 5-11 (Week 2). The honor is the first for McAuley and the first for the Chiefs in the 2018-19 season.

McAuley, a sophomore from Aurora, Illinois, averaged 25.7 points and 13.3 rebounds over three games for the Chiefs. The 6'8" forward/center amassed 77 points on 51% shooting overall and made 28 of 37 free throws, while also collecting 40 rebounds, five assists, four blocks, and two steals. McAuley tallied 36 points in a loss against Olive-Harvey College, and followed it up with 20 points and 21 points in wins over Carl Sandburg College and Illinois Valley Community College, respectively. With four consecutive double-doubles to open the season, McAuley currently ranks third in the nation in scoring at 29.8 points and rebounding at 15.0.
