Hillard of Daley College selected NJCAA DI Player of the Week
The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) has named Richard J. Daley College's Clavone Hillard as the Division I Men's Basketball Player of the Week for February 18-24 (Week 15). The award is the first such honor for Hillard, and the first of the season for the Bulldogs.
Hillard, a freshman guard, averaged a double-double of 30.0 points and 12.7 rebounds over three games during the week. He began the week with a 28-point, six-rebound effort in a three-point loss to #6-ranked South Suburban College. In back-to-back games - one lost and one won - against Olive-Harvey College, Hillard went for 21 points and ten rebounds, followed by a monster 41 points and 22 rebounds to set career-high's in both categories. For the week, he converted 12 of 24 attempts from three-point territory.
Hillard, who is averaging 19.4 points and 10.4 rebounds for the season, and the Bulldogs open the Region IV Division I Men's Basketball Tournament on Thursday, February 28 against Highland Community College.
