Golden Eagles finish runner-up in DIII, Milwaukee places fifth in DII

Rock Valley College reached the NJCAA Division III National Championship Game for the fourth time in six years and came away with the program's second national runner-up finish with a 72-60 final in Rochester, Minnesota. A week later, Milwaukee Area Technical College earned a fifth place finish in its debut appearance at the NJCAA Division II National Championships in Danville, Illinois, while Morton College suffered two losses in the same tournament.

The fifth-seeded Golden Eagles opened tournament play with a 64-56 win over #4 Bunker Hill Community College (MA) to reach the semifinals, where they defeated #8 and tournament Cinderalla Central Lakes Community College (MN) by a 68-62 final to reach the title game for the first time since winning it all in 2016. Rock Valley led by as much as ten points in the first half against #2 Herkimer County Community College (NY), but the Generals (31-1) used a 17-0 second half run to take the lead and claim the crown. Nana Kodom-Ayensu led the Golden Eagles with ten points and 16 rebounds. He and fellow sophomore Josiah Patton were named to the NJCAA All-Tournament Team. Rock Valley College concluded the 2018-19 season with a 25-7 record.

The Stormers, also a #5 seed, started their title pursuit with a 101-87 victory over #12 Ancilla College (IN) before dropping a 95-80 quarterfinal matchup with #4 Erie Community College (NY). MATC-Milwaukee went on to win two more games in the fifth place bracket, defeating #9 Niagara County Community College (NY) 76-73 and #11 John Wood Community College (IL) 85-68 to finish the year 31-6.

Morton College was the DII tournament's #13 seed and drew #4 Erie in the first round, which the Panthers lost by an 83-56 count to drop in to the consolation bracket. In the next game, Morton took a narrow 64-60 setback to #12 Ancilla to cap their season at 21-14.
