Carter of South Suburban receives NJCAA Player of the Week honor

The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) has named South Suburban College's Courtney Carter as the Men's Basketball Division II Player of the Week for January 20-26 (Week 10). The award is the first this season for Carter, and the first in 2019-20 for the Bulldogs. Carter's big week also earned him Region IV Division II - District 3 Player of the Week accolades.

Carter, a sophomore guard, filled the stat sheet over three SSC wins by posting averages of 20.0 points, 8.7 assists, 6.3 rebounds, and 5.3 steals. The Memphis, Tennessee, native started the week with the first of two double-doubles by going for 18 points, 12 assists, five rebounds, and five steals at Olive-Harvey College. Then at Harry S. Truman College, Carter racked up 21 points, five boards, five steals, and four assists. The week ended against Kankakee Community College, which featured a near triple-double of 21 points, ten assists, nine rebounds, and six steals. 

Carter is averaging 14.6 points, 7.7 assists, and 7.2 rebounds for the season. South Suburban College is currently riding a 12-game win streak and are ranked #4 in the latest NJCAA Division II Poll at 21-3 overall.
