South Suburban's Carter, Prairie State's Johnson take home Region IV Player of the Year awards
Following a highly competitive season in Region IV, Prairie State College's Jared Johnson and South Suburban College Courtney Carter headlined the 2020 Divison II Men's Basketball All-Region IV Teams as the top vote-getters, and thus, were named the Region IV Division II Players of the Year for Midwest District 4 (Region 4B) and Midwest District 3 (Region 4A), respectively. Johnson, a 6'4" sophomore guard/forward led the region with 28.8 points and was second with 11.9 rebounds, to go along with 3.7 assists and 1.5 steals. Carter, a second year guard from Memphis, Tennessee, stuffed the stat sheets with per game averages of 15.7 points, 7.9 rebounds, 7.9 assists, and 5.5 steals. He was also the Region IV Tournament MVP after leading the Bulldogs to a Region IV title. The tandem is joined by Yuri Swinford of Milwaukee Area Technical College and Moraine Valley Community College's Jalen Hughes as the region's recipients of the NJCAA All-American nominations.
