The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) has released its list of All-Americans for the 2018 fall sports season, and 12 student-athletes representing NJCAA Region IV were recognized. The group includes five All-Americans in volleyball, four in women's soccer, and three in men's soccer. Five student-athletes were named First Team and Second Team All-Americans, while there was one each on the third team and honorable mention. Joliet Junior College, Madison College, and South Suburban College each boast a pair of NJCAA All-Americans.

The top goal scorer in the nation also doubled as the top vote-getter in among players named to the 2018 Region IV Division I Men's Soccer All-Region Team. Sophomore Ricardo Avalos of South Suburban College headlines the list after scoring 34 goals this fall, seven more than anyone else in the country. The forward also finished the year with ten assists, ten game-winning goals,  and 78 total points. He is one of eight All-American nominees from the region, along with teammate Antonio Castro, Morton College's Baltazar Duran, Patrick Kibler, and Lukas Palmas, Waubonsee Community College's Jose Alfaro and Adrian Bravo Cobian, and Bukolas Abdulwahab from Oakton Community College. Notable from that group Abduhwahab ranking fourth in the nation with 24 goals, Duran 17 assists placing him fifth nationally, and Castro owning the nation's sixth-best save percentage at .883. Region IV champion Morton College leads all team with five all-region selections, while Moraine Valley Community College, Waubonsee Community College, South Suburban College, and Malcolm X College all places three players on the list.

CICERO, ILL. - The Morton College men's soccer team continued a school-record win streak with a 2-0 defeat of Oakton Community College to claim the program's third Region IV Division I Tournament Championship in the last five years. The top-seeded Panthers improved their consecutive wins streak to an impressive 18 games while ending the Cinderalla-like run the sixth-seeded Owls.

For the second year in a row, the top vote-getter on the Region IV Division III Men's Soccer All-Region Team is a representative of Triton College after freshman Michael Szaflarski claimed the honor in 2018. The Trojans earned five all-region honors to lead all team, followed by four each for Elgin Community College and Madison College. Szaflarski, a midfielder, scored a team-high ten goals and collected three assists, and was joined by Madison College's Dejesus Herrera and Elgin Community College's Aldo Lazaro on the list of NJCAA All-American nominees. Harper College won the Region IV Tournament, thus awarding freshman Matthew Austin the Region IV Tournament MVP and first year coach Andre Watson the Region IV Coach of the Year.

PALATINE, ILL. - A first period goal turned out to be the difference in the 2018 NJCAA Region IV Division III Men's Soccer Championship as second-seeded Harper College defeated fifth-seeded Elgin Community College by a 1-0 final on Saturday. The win gives the Hawks their third Region IV crown in the last four years and returns Harper to the top of the region after a one-year hiatus.

Triton's Castanon picked as top NJCAA DIII goalkeeper

The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) has named Triton College's Alan Castanon as the Division III Goalie of the Week for September 10-16 (Week 3). The honor is the first for Castanon and the first this season for the Trojans.

Gomez of Malcolm X nabs NJCAA weekly honor

The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) has selected Cesar Gomez of Malcolm X College as the Division I Men's Soccer Player of the Week for September 3-9 (Week 2). The award is the first such honor for Gomez and the first of the season for the Hawks.
