Prairie State's Leal receives NJCAA DI Player of the Week

The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) has named Prairie State College's Antonio Leal as the Division I Men's Soccer Player of the Week for September 30-October 6 (Week 6). The award is the first such honor for Leal, and the first this season for the Pioneers.

Leal led Prairie State College to a pair of wins that clinched the program's first-ever Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference championship as he amassed seven goals and six assists for a 20-point week. In a 14-0 rout of McHenry County College, Leal tallied five goals and four assists. The freshman forward from Belem, Brazil, followed it up with a two-goal, two-assist effort in a 6-0 blanking of Malcolm X College. On the year, he is tied for second nationally with 21 goals, and is alone in second with 51 total points.

Leal and the Pioneers are 12-3-1 and riding an eight-game win streak. They are currently receiving votes in the NJCAA Division I Poll.
