Dramatic finish gives DuPage a track & field three-peat

UTICA, NEW YORK - The 2023 NJCAA Division III Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championship came down to the final couple events, and thanks to a first place finish in the 5000m, the College of DuPage secured a third consecutive national title. The Chaparrals tallied 144.5 points to surpass Mineral Area Community College at 130.5 points. Harper College racked up 65.5 points to claim sixth place, while Joliet Junior College was ninth with 31.0 points and Triton College was 18th with 9.0 points. (Recaps: NJCAA | DuPage

Noah Mack won three gold medals with the fastest times in the 100m and 200m, and was part of the top 4 x 100m relay team that stood atop the podium. Nicholas Keeling won the decisive 5000m, Sheldon Powell claimed first in the 3000m steeplechase, and Jack Sauder was the pole vault champ. The Chaps also crossed the finish line first in the 4 x 800m relay. DuPage also boasts on runner-up finish and three bronze medal winners.

Harper's top point-getters were Albert Szewczyk with a second place run in the 10000m and the runner-up finish by the 4 x 400. Joliet, fielding a team for the first time since 1981, celebrated an individual national champion with Jol Anyan soaring to the high jump title with a jump of 6'4".
