Waubonsee's VanBarriger selected NJCAA Men's XC Runner of the Week
The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) has selected Waubonsee Community College's Jordan VanBarriger as the Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for September 9-15 (Week 3). The award, which the NJCAA began this season, is the first for VanBarriger, and the first for the Chiefs.
VanBarriger, a sophomore from Rockford East High School, won the Aurora University Spartan Classic on September 13 with a time of 25:22 that bested the Waubonsee school record by five seconds. A NJCAA Division I National Meet qualifier and an all-region honoree in 2018, VanBarriger was tops among 241 runners in the event. He led the Chiefs to a fifth place finish among junior college schools in the event.
Waubonsee Community College runs again at the 42nd Loyola Lakefront Invitational in Chicago, Illinois, on September 28.
