Region IV cross country titles won by Bryant & Stratton, Harper

GALESBURG, ILL - A fresh face and an old reliable came away as the top teams at the 2019 Region IV Divisions I & III Men's Cross Country Championships on Saturday, October 26 at Carl Sandburg College. In its first year as a competitive program, Bryant & Stratton College took the DI crown with a 77-point day, besting second place Morton College with 94 points. In DIII, perennial power Harper College secured yet another title with 19 points, finishing 17 points ahead of Joliet Junior College. Waubonsee Community College sophomore Jordan VanBarriger took Runner of the Year accolades in Division I after crossing the finish line first with a time of 26.41.8, while sophomore Jacob Melgosa made sure he didn't finish runner-up for a second straight year by posting a time of 27:55.4 to best his own teammate by ten second en route to DIII Runner of Year honors. With their team victories, Casey Green of Bryant & Stratton College and Jim Macnider of Harper College were each named Region IV Coach of the Year.

The 2019 NJCAA Division I Cross Country Championships will be held Saturday, November 9 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, while the 2019 NJCAA Division III Cross Country Championships will be conducted in Westfield, Massachusetts, on Saturday, November 2.
