RVC's Crown makes it four national pitcher of the week awards during sophomore season
The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) has selected Rock Valley College's Breanna Crown as the Division III Pitcher of the Week for May 6-12 (Week 16). The honor is the fourth of the year - and seventh of her career - for Crown, and marks the sixth such award for Rock Valley College this season.
Crown, a sophomore from Davis Junction, Illinois, posted two wins in leading the Golden Eagles to a seventh straight Region IV championship. During the round-robin portion of the Division III Tournament, Crown tossed eight innings in a 4-3 extra innings win over Joliet Junior College, allowing three runs on seven hits, four walks, and two strikeouts. In Sunday's winner-take-all second championship game, the reigning national pitcher of the year showed why with a seven-inning, three-hit effort that also produced five K's.
Crown and the Golden Eagles are ranked #1 in the NJCAA Division III Poll and host Schoolcraft College (MI) in the NJCAA District G Championship Series on Friday, May 17 at 1pm as they pursue a record sixth consecutive national championship.
Rock Valley standout Breanna Crown led the Golden Eagles to a Region VI title, claiming two wins in the circle.
