Kankakee's Cole, Waubonsee's Eby get top billing for DII
Waubonsee Community College's Alyssa Eby and Kankakee Community College's Mikayla Cole were voted the top players among the 2019 Region IV Division II District B & C All-Region Teams. Eby is joined freshman Jordan Martin of Madison College and sophomore Brenna McCann from Illinois Valley Community College as the three All-American nominees from Region IV District B, while Cole, Triton College sophomore Hailey Johansen, and Prairie State College sophomore Alyssa Gill received the All-American nods for Region IV District C. Kankakee Community College led all teams with five all-region honorees, while Waubonsee Community College and Triton College each had four. South Suburban College boasts the most first team recipients with three.
Eby, a freshman infielder from St. Charles, Illinois, batted .449 with 84 hits, the second-highest total in the region. She also scored 58 runs and drove in another 26, while racking up 23 extra base hits. In 187 official at-bats, Eby struck out just once and at one point owned a 22-game hitting streak.
Cole, a sophomore pitcher/utility player from Martinton, Illinois, logged 93.2 innings in the circle and posted a 10-7 record with a 3.36 earned run average. She recorded 85 strikeouts in her 21 appearances. At the plate, Cole batted .441 with 71 hits, including 18 extra base hits. She drove in 54 runs and scored 46 times.
