The NJCAA Region 4 Hall of Fame is pleased to announce a nine-member induction Class of 2024. The group includes six student-athletes and three coaches that excelled during their time competing in Region 4. The inductees represent six different Region 4 schools, including two inductees each for the College of DuPage, Oakton College, and Rock Valley College.

The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) has released its list of All-Americans for the 2022-23 spring sports season, and 72 student-athletes representing Region 4 were recognized. The group includes 27 from men's and women's track & field, ten from baseball, and four each from men's golf and softball. There are 16 first team recipients, 19 second team honorees, five third team selections, and 12 honorable mention distinctions. The student-athletes represent nine Region 4 institutions.

Rock Valley championship streak ends, South Suburban, Joliet notch wins on national stage

SPARTANBURG, SC & DEWITT, NEW YORK - Following an unprecedented run of eight consecutive national titles, Rock Valley College's streak has ended in their first season at a higher division. The Golden Eagles, who jumped from Division III to Division II in 2023, was out after two games following a loss to Region 4 foe South Suburban College at the 2023 NJCAA Division II Softball Championship. The Bulldogs went 1-2 in their first appearance since 2000, while Joliet Junior College posted a 2-2 record and came within two wins of reaching the championship series at the 2023 NJCAA Division III Softball Championships.

Joliet makes incredible run to Region 4 title, first NJCAA appearance

GLEN ELLYN, ILL. - The Joliet Junior College softball team survived a long and uphill battle that included winning a play-in series and not one, but two upsets of the nation's No. 1 ranked team to claim the 2023 NJCAA Region 4 Division III Great Lakes District Softball Tournament title on May 13 at the College of DuPage. It's the Wolves first region championship and will advance them to their first-ever appearance at the national tournament. Coach Emily Marino was presented the Region 4 Coach of the Year Award after finishing a gauntlet of games that included opponents from Regions 10 and 12.

South Suburban, Rock Valley emerge from Division II fields with Region 4 championships

KANKAKEE & ROCKFORD, ILL. - They may have taken different paths and brought different histories with them, but South Suburban College and Rock Valley College emerged from the 2023 Region 4 Division II Softball Tournaments with District A and District B championships, respectively. The Bulldogs emerged from the losers bracket with four straight wins to claim their program's first region title in 23 years, while the Golden Eagles won their first Division II title after an unprecedented run of region and national titles at the Division III level.

The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) has released its list of All-Americans for the 2021-22 spring sports season, and 43 student-athletes representing Region 4 were recognized. The group includes 11 from women's track & field, ten from men's track & field and softball, eight from baseball, three from men's golf, and one from men's tennis. There are 20 first team recipients, 15 second team honoree, seven third team selections, and 11 honorable mention distinctions. The student-athletes represent ten Region 4 institutions.

RVC secures 8th consecutive (and final) Div. II crown, while Triton, Bryant & Stratton compete at Div. II tournament

DeWITT, NY & OXFORD, ALA. - In their final year as a Division III program, Rock Valley College left with their championship legacy in tact, winning their unprecedented eighth consecutive NJCAA Division III Softball National Championship with a 9-2 (Box Score | NJCAA Story) victory over Corning Community College on May 28 in upstate New York. The Golden Eagles have been the class of the tournament since 2014. In Alabama, Region 4 champions Triton College and Bryant & Stratton College went a combined 1-4 at the 2022 NJCAA Division II Softball Championships.

Rock Valley rolls to 9th Region 4 title

JOLIET, ILL. - Rock Valley College's reign carried into a ninth consecutive year as the Golden Eagles claimed the 2022 NJCAA Region 4 Division III Softball Tournament Championship with a 5-3 defeat over Joliet Junior College on May 14. Top-seeded and top-ranked RVC was led by Scout Kram, Kaitlin Stefek, Jenna Turner, and Madiosn Carlson, who were all named to the Region 4 All-Tournament Team. Darin Monroe and Vivi Marquez were named Region 4 Co-Coaches of the Year after guiding the seven-time defending national champions beyond the region tournament.

Triton College repeats, Bryant & Stratton breaks through as Region 4 champions

HIGHLAND, ILL. - Triton College and Bryant & Stratton College were the last teams standing after each won their respective bracket of the 2022 Region 4 Division II Softball Tournament Championships on May 15. The top-seeded Trojans repeated as champs courtesy of a 12-1 beat down of third-seeded Sauk Valley Community College to win the District A crown, while the first-seeded Bobcats routed third-seeded Highland Community College by a 10-0 final to secure the District B title for their first-ever Region 4 championship. Triton College's Carissa Bombaeriere, Taylor Schwartz, Alyssa Stamaglia, and Katlyn Cherry were named to the All-Tournament Team, with Christina Christopher receiving Region 4 Coach of the Year honors. Meanwhile, Megan Verbeten, Alyssa Trensch, Karissa Laabs, and Sydney Birling received All-Tournament Team recognition for Bryant & Stratton College, which was led by Regoin 4 Coach of the Year Dean Herman.

With the calendar fully flipped to February, the Spring 2022 seasons are rapidly approaching and ten Region 4 programs are garnering preseason attention. Rock Valley College boasts the only program with a #1 national ranking, as the seven-time defending national champions prepare for their final season competing at the Division III level, and the Golden Eagles are joined by the College of DuPage and Joliet Junior College representing the region in the nation's top ten. The Division II Baseball Poll also features three squads from Region 4 in the top 12, led by Madison College at #5. The WolfPack are the only Region 4 school to have both their baseball and softball teams listed in the preseason polls.

Triton's Stramaglia receives NJCAA national weekly award

The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) has named Triton College sophomore Alyssa Stramaglia as the Division II Softball Pitcher of the Week for March 29-April 4 (Week 9). The award is the first such honor for Stramaglia, and the first award this year for the Trojans.
