NJCAA names Waubonsee's Beebe as DII Player of the Week

The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) has named Waubonsee Community College's Katie Beebe as the Division II Women's Basketball Player of the Week for November 26-December 2 (Week 5). The award is the first such honor for Beebe, and the first this season for the Chiefs.

Beebe, 5'9" freshman forward, averaged 16.7 points and 16.0 rebounds in three wins for Waubonsee. The Oswego, Illinois, native tallied 12 points, 22 rebounds, and five blocks in a 76-62 win over Sauk Valley Community College, and followed it up with a 22-point, 20-rebound, and four-block performance as the Chiefs defeated the College of DuPage 74-42. To cap the week, Beebe posted 16 points and six rebounds to help top Milwaukee Area Technical College by a 69-56 margin. For the week, she made 22 of 40 shots for 55%, and also had nine blocks, seven steals, and six assists. The 22 rebounds broke a single-game school record that stood since 1980.

Beebe currently ranks third nationally with 28 blocks shots and is tied for ninth for offensive rebounds. She is averaging 11.6 points, 9.4 rebounds, and 2.6 blocks a contest
