Highland's Chappel headlines list of top Region IV DII players

Highland Community College sophomore Lakeita Chappel proved over and over again that she belonged at the top of the list, and as a result was named the Player of the Year and leads the list of the 2018-19 NJCAA Region IV Division I All-Region Team. Chappel is joined by Lamichael Dean of Kennedy-King College and Breanna Scheidegger of Sauk Valley Community College as the region's three All-American nominees. The Cougars, who repeated as Region IV champions, are tied with Skyhawks for the most entries on the all-region team with three each, followed by two from Malcolm X College.

Chappel, who was also named the Region IV Division I Tournament Most Valuable Player, averaged 16.9 points, 5.2 rebounsd, 3.3 assists, adn 2.1 steals in helping Highland Community College to a 15-5 record. She and the Cougars will host Region XIII winner Miles Community College (MT) in the NJCAA District D Championship on Saturday, March 9.
