Former City Colleges of Chicago Women’s Basketball Player Claims Award from WNBA’s Chicago Sky

CHICAGO  Dereniece Moton (Senn H.S.), a 2019 Wilbur Wright College graduate and two-year member of the Rams' women's basketball team, received a $1,000 scholarship from the WNBA's Chicago Sky at halftime of its game on Wednesday.

The scholarship was sponsored by the team's Sky Cares Foundation as part of its Greatness Under Pressure initiative, which recognizes students who have overcome adversity.  The goal of Sky Cares is to promote diversity and inclusion, empowerment of women, health and fitness, military and veteran support and youth and family education.

Also at halftime, Chance the Rapper, the recipient of three Grammy awards in 2017, garnered a Community Hero award from Sky Cares.  He remained on the court to serve as one of the presenters of Moton's scholarship check.
