The National Junior College Athletics Association (NJCAA) has named Melissa Philips of the College of DuPage as its Division III Player of the Week for September 11-17 (Week 3). The weekly award is the first such honor for Philips and the Chaparrals in 2017.

Philips, a sophomore midfielder, helped the College of DuPage record a 3-1 record during the week. Over the course of the four games, Philips tallied 12 of the team's 22 goals, as well as an assist, for an impressive 25-point week. She opened the week with a hat trick and the assist in a win over Illinois Valley Community College. Then after a scoreless outing against Harper College, Philips posted four goals against Milwaukee Area Technical College and a season-high five goals opposite Rochester Community & Technical College. In each of the last two games, she has netted the game-winner for the Chaparrals.

College of DuPage is 4-4-1 overall this season, 3-2-1 against Region IV teams, and 2-2-1 in the North Central Community College Conference.
