Moraine Valley's Janeczek, Joliet's Arlis receive national player of the week awards

The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) has recognized two Region IV student-athletes as women's soccer Players of the Week, with Brooke Janeczek of Moraine Valley Community College earning the honor in Division I and Joliet Junior College's Hailey Arlis selected in Division III for October 16-22 (Week 8). For Janeczek, the honor is the first such of her career, and the first of the season for the Cyclones. Arlis was also named player of the week for the first week of the season, making this her second national award of the year.

Janeczek scored six goals and handed out one assist in a pair of shutout victories for #14 Moraine Valley. The freshman forward tallied three goals as part of a 5-0 defeat of Trinity Christian College JV, and followed it up with another hat trick and an assist in a 9-0 drubbing at Elgin Community College. Janeczek has four hat tricks on the season and 11 total goals.

Arlis, one of the top goal scorers in the nation for NJCAA DIII, added to her season total with five goals and three assists in two postseason wins for #9 Joliet. The freshman forward punched in four goals, to go along with two assists, to help the Wolves top Elgin Community College, 9-1, in the Region IV Tournament Quarterfinals. In the semifinals, she added another goal and assist to push JCC to a 3-1 decision over Rock Valley College. Arlis has 40 goals this fall and 11 multi-goal matches.
