THREE-PEAT: Moraine Valley rallies to win third straight Region IV crown

PALOS HILLS, ILL. - The two-time defending champs found themselves down early before a barrage of goals propelled Moraine Valley Community College to a 5-2 defeat of Waubonsee Community College to win the 2017 Region IV Division I Women's Soccer Tournament Championship. The Cyclones have won three consecutive Region IV titles and will represent the region at the NJCAA Division I Women's Soccer Championships.

The Chiefs (15-4-2) tallied the first two goals of the match to sieze the early momentum. However, undefeated Moraine Valley (17-0) flexed its muscled and rattled off five unanswered goals to provide the winning margin. Brooke Janeczek scored a pair of goals, including the equalizer and the game-winner, en route to Region IV Tournament MVP honors.

Moraine Valley, ranked #14 in the final NJCAA Division I Poll, will travel to Melbourne, Florida, for the NJCAA Division I Women's Soccer National Championships at Titan Stadium. The tournament runs November 13-18. Head coach Al Palar, whose Cyclones are 0-4-0 in their two previous trips to nationals, was named Region IV Coach of the Year.
