Moraine Valley, Madison shut out at NJCAA national tournaments

Region IV representatives Moraine Valley Community College and Madison College were both denied wins at the 2017 NJCAA Women's Soccer National Championships. The Cyclones, winners of the Region IV Division I title, failed to score a goal in two matches, while Madison College, making their first-ever appearance at the Division III National Tournament, came up short in two closely contested matches.

Moraine Valley, making a third consecutive appearance in Melbourne, Florida, opened pool play with a 6-0 loss to #3 Laramie County (WY) Community College, and finished with a 5-0 setback against #6 ASA College-Brooklyn (NY). The #10 Cyclones concluded the year with a 17-2 overall record.

In Dryden, New York, Madison College made its first appearance on the national stage as the #5 seed. The WolfPack lost its opener to #4 Delta (MI) College by a 2-0 final to fall into the consolation bracket. There, Madison College fell 2-1 to #8 Nassau (NY) Community College in blizzard conditions to end their season at 15-3-2. Freshman Peyton Trapino, who scored the team's only goal, was selected to the all-tournament team.
