Region IV student-athletes earn 12 fall NJCAA All-American awards

The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) has released its list of All-Americans for the 2018 fall sports season, and 12 student-athletes representing NJCAA Region IV were recognized. The group includes five All-Americans in volleyball, four in women's soccer, and three in men's soccer. Five student-athletes were named First Team and Second Team All-Americans, while there was one each on the third team and honorable mention. Joliet Junior College, Madison College, and South Suburban College each boast a pair of NJCAA All-Americans.
Moraine Valley leaves NJCAA National Tournament empty handed

FOLEY, ALA. - The Moraine Valley Community College women's soccer team made their fourth consecutive appearance at the NJCAA Division I Women's Soccer National Championships, however, they failed to pick up a win in two games. The Cyclones opened as the 12th-seed and lost their pool play opener by a 4-0 final to top-seeded and eventual national runner-up Tyler Junior College (TX). Their second match came against eighth-seeded Monroe Community College (NY) and ended with a 6-0 blanking at the hands of the Tribunes. Moraine Valley finishes their season with a 19-3-1 record.
Porras of South Suburban headlines DI All-Region list

South Suburban College's Nataly Porras scored a goal in every game she played in 2018. Often times she scored multiple goals. As a result, the sophomore forward has been voted the top player on the 2018 NJCAA Region IV Division I All-Region Women's Soccer team. Porras finished with 46 goals to rank second in the nation after recording at least a hat trick in eight matches this season. She is one of seven players to receive All-American nominations, including Moraine Valley Community College teammates Sylvia Kordaczka and Mairead Ruane, Bryant & Stratton College's Arianna Duncanson, Rachel Moore from the College of Lake County, and Oakton Community College teammates Caitlin Dalton and Liz Stengal. Of note from that group, Moore is fourth in the nation with 38 goals and Ruane was named Region IV Tournament MVP after guiding the Cyclones to a fourth straight championship. Al Palar of MVCC was awarded the Region IV Coach of the Year.
Moraine Valley completes four-peat with Region IV title

Moraine Valley Community College is once again champions of the NJCAA Region IV Division I Women's Soccer Tournament after defeating Waubonsee Community College by a 4-1 final to claim their fourth consecutive title. The top-seeded Cyclones handed the second-seeded Chiefs a fourth consecutive loss in the region finale en route to an unbeaten 19-0-1 record.
Trapino of Madison College leads highly-productive all-region list

The 2018 Region IV All-Region Women's Soccer Teams boast some of the top statistical players in the country, led by Madison College sophomore Peyton Trapino. Trapino is second in the nation in assists with 23, scored 13 goals on the year, and received the most of any player in the region. She is joined on the list of All-American nominees from the region by Joliet Junior College's Miranda Nirchi and Lindsey Bond, as well as Harper College's Julia Szylke. Nirchi and Szylke are ranked first and second, respectively in goals scored in the country, while Bond sits fourth on the assists list. The WolfPack placed eight players on the all-region team, the most of any program, and was followed by the Wolves with six. Joliet defeated Madison for the Region IV title, paving the way for Nirchi to win Tournament MVP honors and Wesley Dapkus to grab Coach of the Year accolades.

MADISON, WISC. - A year after losing the region title match on their home field to Madison College, second-seeded Joliet Junior College returned the favor on Wednesday with a 3-0 win over the top-seeded WolfPack to earn the 2018 NJCAA Region IV Division III Women's Soccer Championship.
Madison's Kubicek named NJCAA Goalkeeper of the Week

As she closes in on setting a new single season records for shutouts, the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) has selected Madison College's Kelly Kubicek as it Division III Women's Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week for September 24-30 (Week 5). The national honor is the first such award for Kubicek and the first this season for the WolfPack women's soccer program. Kubicek becomes the second player in the program's history to earn a national weekly award.
NJCAA picks Harper's Heinrich for top weekly honor

The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) has selected Harper College's Sydney Heinrich as the Division III Goalie of the Week for September 10-16 (Week 3). The national honor is the first for Heinrich and the first this season for the Hawks.

The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) has selected Joliet Junior College's Miranda Nirchi as the Division III Women's Soccer Player of the Week for August 22-September 2 (Week 1). The honor is the first of the season for Nirchi and the first for the Wolves.
