Sauk Valley, Harper sprint to Region IV women's titles
GRAYSLAKE, ILL. - Sauk Valley Community College and Harper College ran their way to 2018 NJCAA Region IV Women's Cross Country Championships on Saturday, October 27 on the 5,000-meter course at the College of Lake County. The Skyhawks amassed 41 points to edge second place Carl Sandburg by 15 points for the Division I crown, while the Hawks ran unchallenged and finished with 15 points for the Division III title. Carl Sandburg freshman Nancy Jebet claimed the Division I Runner of the Year award with a time of 19:19.13, a little over one minute better than second place Calista Stefaniak of Moraine Valley Community College. For a second consecutive year, the DIII Runner of the Year honor went to sophomore Misbah Baig in 19:16.34 to edge out her teammate and second place finisher Taylor Kreiss by 44 seconds. Nick Hartz of SVCC and Jim Macnider from Harper each received Region IV Coach of the Year accolades.

The NJCAA Division I Women's Cross Country Championships will be run in Saturday, November 10 in Garden City, Kansas, while the NJCAA Division III Women's Cross Country Championships are November 3 in Westfield, Massachusetts.
