The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) has selected Joliet Junior College's Emma Sweeney as the Tachikara Division III Women's Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week for September 30-October 6 (Week 6). The award is the first such honor for Sweeney, and the first this season for the Wolves.

Sweeney, a 5'3" libero/defensive specialist, averaged 6.81 digs per set during a 3-1 week for Joliet Junior College. Her 109 digs, including a season-high 40 in a five-set defeat of Elgin Community College, pushed her past the 1,000 digs mark for her career. The 1,000th dig came during a sweep at Triton College. The Lockport, Illinois, native also tallied eight aces and three assists during the week. Her 476 digs this fall leads the nation.
