The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) has named Harper College's Kayla Agoranos the Women's Volleyball Division III Defensive Player of the Weeek for October 14-20 (Week 8). The award is the first such honor for Agoranos, and the second this season for the Hawks after Jules Carusiello took home the same distinction for Week 4.

Agoranos, a 5'5" sophomore right side and libero, helped Harper College to five wins in six matches by collecting 101 digs during the week. The former Hampshire High School (IL) athlete opened the week with 19 digs against Milwaukee Area Technical College and 11 more against Triton College as the Hawks clinched their third North Central Community College Conference championship in the last four years. At the Judson Tri-Match, Agoranos posted 25 digs against the Judson University JV. She capped her impressive week with a career-best 33 digs in a five-set win over Illinois Valley Community College at the Illinois Valley Tri-Match.

Agoranos is averaging 3.72 digs per set and has 473 total digs, which ranks her sixth in the nation - one spot better than Carusiello with 470. Harper College is 21-19 with two matches left in their regular season schedule. They will be the #1 seed in the upcoming Region IV Division III Tournament.
