Charlotte, NC - Milwaukee Area Tech (WI) head men's basketball coach Randy Casey has been named the 2022-23 NJCAA Division II Men's Basketball Coach of the Year.

In his 12th season at the helm of the Stormers, Casey earned his first national championship victory; the first in program history and the first championship for Milwaukee Area Tech in any sport. He led the team to their best season in program history, going 32-4.

Coach Casey coached two all-tournament team selections in Mikale Stevenson and Ke'Varius Taylor as well as the 2022-23 NJCAA DIII Men's Basketball Championship Most Valuable Player, Mason Johnson. In addition, he coached one NJCAA All-American; Mikale Stevenson (Third-team).

The NJCAA DII Men's Basketball Championship Most Valuable Player, Mason Johnson talks about how Randy Casey helped him reach his highest potential as a student-athlete, "Coach Casey has taught me that as a player I need to listen to the message from my coach and not be affected by how the message is delivered because it is coming from a place of love and that he is trying to push me to reach my highest potential."

NJCAA All-American (Third-team), Mikale Stevenson echoed the thoughts of Johnson about the life lessons Coach Randy Casey has taught his players by saying, "(Coach) Casey has taught me and our team to only focus on what we can control and not be affected by outside noise. This is a lesson that can be used on and off the court."

The Stormers were a matchup nightmare for every team they faced. They averaged 94.6 points per game on the offensive side. They complimented that with the nation's third best defensive rebounding per game (32.8), fourth best field goal percentage (50.9), and fifth best in total rebounds per game (47.4).

In his 12 seasons leading the Stromers' squad, Randy Casey has compiled a 254-152 (.625) record.
