Joliet is back on top, wins first Region 4 title in six years

JOLIET, ILL. - Amidst a changing landscape within the region, Joliet Junior College claimed the 2024 NJCAA Region 4 Division III Men's Basketball Tournament title with an 86-58 victory over Harper College on Saturday, February 24. The victory marks the Wolves first region championship since 2018, and gives head coach Danny Turner his first Region 4 Coach of the Year honor. (Recap: Joliet)

Sophomore guard Alex Vassilakis drained five 3-pointers and scored 27 points as part of an impressive double-double with 14 rebounds. Joliet Junior College also got 18 points off the bench from Jalen Williams, as well as 12 points from Eric Troutman and ten points from Michael Allen.

The Wolves (16-15) advance to the NJCAA Great Lakes District Championship against Region 12 winner Owens Community College (8-18). The game will be played in Perrysville, Ohio, on March 2, with the winner qualifying for the 2024 NJCAA Division III Men's Basketball Championships in Herkimer, New York, from March 13-16.
