Sanders of Wilbur Wright earns NJCAA Player of the Week nod
The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) has named Wilbur Wright College's Sierra Sanders as the Division II Women's Basketball Player of the Week for February 11-17 (Week 14). The award is the first such honor for Sanders, and the first this season for the Rams.
Sanders, a sophomore center, averaged 27.7 points, 23.3 rebounds, 4.0 steals, 3.0 assists, and 3.0 blocks over three games for Wilbur Wright College. She posted 29 points, 20 rebounds, five steals, and a block in a loss to Joliet Junior College. The team's lone win of the week was a one-point decision at Milwaukee Area Technical College, and featured a 29-point, 24-rebound, five-steal, four-block, and three-assist effort from the Chicago, Illinois, native. In her final game of the week, a home loss to Triton College, she finished with 25 points, 26 rebounds, six assists, four boards, and two steals.
Sanders currently sits at 998 career points and has helped Wilbur Wright College to a 13-12 record this season.
