2019-20 NJCAA Region IV Women's Basketball Players of the Week

The following is the on-going list of 2019-20 women's basketball student-athletes named NJCAA Region IV Player of the Week for their respective divisions.

 

February 17, 2020

Division II - District D: Diamond Stallworth, South Suburban College
Stallworth nearly registered a quadruple-double against Black Hawk College when she finished with a career-high 42 points on 13 of 22 shooting and 16 of 21 free throws, to go along with ten steals, eight rebounds, and eight assists.

Division II - District L: Jasmine Malone, Milwaukee Area Technical College
Malone opened the week with a double-double against Wilbur Wright College as she went for 21 points (7-16 FG; 7-8 FT), 14 points, seven assists, and five steals. She followed it up with a career-best 31 points, two steals, one board, and one assist against Lake Michigan College. In that game Malone made 11 of 21 shots, 3 of 7 three-pointers, and 6 of 7 free throws.

Division III: Lynese Johnson, Joliet Junior College
In her game against the College of DuPage, Johnson tallied 17 points (8-18 FG; 1-3 3PT), 14 rebounds, six assists, four steals, and three blocks. Then against Harper College, she amassed 26 points (12-29 FG; 2-2 FT) and a career-high 22 rebounds, as well as seven assists, five steals, and five blocks.

 

February 10, 2020

Division II - District D: Daranesha Smith, Wilbur Wright College
In her game against Kankakee Community College, Smith tallied a double-double with 15 points (6-27 FG; 1-12 3PT, 2-2 FT), 12 rebounds, four assists, one steal, and one block. Smith followed that with five points (2-21 FG; 1-4 FT), 14 rebounds, five steals, and an assist against Madison College. To cap the week, she posted a triple-double against Harper College with a career-high 33 points, 11 steals, and ten assists.

Division II - District L: Alyssa Iverson, McHenry County College
Iverson went for 34 points (12-24 FG; 8-10 FT), 10 rebounds, four steals, and four assists in a game against Morton College. Then she made ten baskets against Elgin Community College to finish with 22 points, eight rebounds, four steals, and two assists. Iverson closed out the week with 30 points (9-25 FG; 10-13 FT), four assists, three rebounds, and three steals in a matchup with Black Hawk College.

Division III: Aniah Williams, Madison College
Williams became the fourth player in program history to score 1,000 points, which she did on her final basket against Wilbur Wright College as she registered 25 points (11-23 FG; 1-8 3PT; 2-10 FT), four rebounds, two steals, and one assist. She then posted 22 points (10-21 FG; 1-4 3PT; 1-4 FT), nine rebounds, four steals, and three assists at the College of DuPage.

 

February 3, 2020

Division I: Jessica Congress, Malcolm X College
Congress hit six 3-pointers and scored 34 points (11-24 FG; 6-14 3PT; 6-8 FT) as part of a double-double with ten rebounds against Kennedy-King College. Against Sauk Valley Community College, she registered 14 points (4-11 FG; 2-6 3PT; 4-5 FT), four rebounds, and two steals.

Division II - District D: Kyla Collins, College of Lake County
In her game against Benedictine University JV, Collins tallied a double-double of 38 points and 18 rebounds, while also picking up two blocked shots and a steal. She converted 16 of 38 shots and 6 of 9 free throws. Then against Elgin Community College, she followed it up with 32 points (12-14 FG; 8-9 FT), 13 rebounds, three steals, and a block. Collins finished the week with a 28-point (12-20 FG; 4-5 FT), nine-rebound, and four-steal effort against the Northwestern University Club Team.

Division II - District L: Kiarra Otto, Bryant & Stratton College
Otto filled the entire stat sheet over two games. She began the week with eight points, eight rebounds, seven assists, nine steals and five blocks against Kishwaukee College, before ending it with 16 points (6-11 FG; 1-3 3PT; 3-6 FT), six rebounds, five assists, seven steals, and five blocks.

Division III: Lynese Johnson, Joliet Junior College
Against Wilbur Wright College, Johnson went for 24 points (9-19 FG; 4-4 3PT; 2-5 FT) and 15 rebounds, to go along with two assists and two steals. She followed with 29 points (10-18 FG; 1-4 3PT; 8-11 FT), seven rebounds, six assists, and a block against Milwaukee Area Technical College.

 

January 27, 2020

Division II - District D: Diamond Stallworth, South Suburban College
In her game against Trinity Christian College, she posted of double-double with 29 points on 13 of 19 shooting (3-6 FT) and ten rebounds, to go along with seven assists, three steals, and one block. Then against Kankakee Community College, Stallworth recorded another double-double, going for 28 points (10-26 FG; 7-10 FT) and 14 rebounds, and narrowly missed a triple-double with nine assists, six steals, and five blocks.

Division II - District L: Alyssa Iverson, McHenry County College
Iverson dominated the week at the free throw line by going 40 for 44 over three games. Against Elmhurst College JV, she went for 28 points (8-18 FG; 1-4 3PT; 11-11 FT), three assists, and two steals. Iverson posted a career-high 44 points (9-21 FG; 3-6 3PT; 23-24 FT), as well as five assists and three steals against Moraine Valley Community College. She capped the week against #10 Bryant & Stratton College with a 24-point effort (7-18 FG; 4-10 3PT; 6-9 FT), with two assists and two steals.

Division III: Aniah Williams, Madison College
Williams tallied a season-high 31 points (12-22 FG; 1-4 3PT; 6-13 FT), four rebounds, two steals, and an assist against Milwaukee Area Technical College. She then posted 17 points (6-14 FG; 1-4 3PT; 4-7 FT), nine rebounds, three steals, and one assist against Joliet Junior College.

 

January 20, 2020

Division II - District D: Bethany Baldwin, Triton College
In her game against Joliet Junior College, Baldwin scored 23 points (6-16 FG; 2-4 3PT; 9-10 FT), and added eight rebounds, six assists, and four steals. Then against Madison College, she went for 27 points (11-18 FG; 4-8 3PT; 1-2 FT), nine rebounds, five assists, and three steals. 

Division II - District L: Addie Ringel, McHenry County College
Against Elgin Community College, Ringel racked up 11 points, 13 rebounds, six blocks, and two assists. She followed it up with 20 points, nine rebounds, two assists, and three blocks against the College of Lake County.

Division III: Lynese Johnson, Joliet Junior College
In her game against Rock Valley College, Johnson posted 23 points (9-15 FG; 3-4 3PT; 2-4 FT), nine rebounds, two assists, and two blocks. In her next outing against Triton College, she finished with nine points, 11 rebounds, five blocks, two steals, and one assist. Johnson capped the week by registering a double-double of 21 points (9-18 FG; 3-6 FT) and 13 rebounds, while adding two assists and two blocks.

 

January 13, 2020

Division II - District D: Daranesha Smith, Wilbur Wright College
In her game against the College of DuPage, Smith went for 26 points on 11 of 30 shooting overall with one three-pointers and three free throws. She also had eight rebounds, two blocks, and one assist. Against Madison College, Smith dropped in 25 points (9-24 FG; 2-20 3PT; 5-8 FT) and collected six rebounds, five steals, and four assists.

Division II - District L: Alyssa Iverson, McHenry County College
Against Waubonsee Community College, Iverson poured in 28 points, to go along with four assists and four steals. She followed it up with 25 points, four assists, and three steals against Morton College.

Division III: Lilly Dorman, Madison College
Dorman posted back-to-back double-doubles, beginning with ten points and ten rebounds against Harper College. Then against Wilbur Wright College, Dorman registered 18 points and ten rebounds, as well as four assists.

 

January 6, 2020

Division II - District D: Diamond Stallworth, South Suburban College
Against Rock Valley College, she scored 28 points on 13 of 23 shooting and a pair of free throws, while also picking up 11 steals and eight assists. Then against Sauk Valley Community College, Stallworth tallied 17 points (8-18 FG; 1-1 3PT), four assists, and five steals.

Division II - District L: La'Janique Perry-Ellis, Bryant & Stratton College
In her game against McHenry County College, she racked up a double-double of 19 points (5-9 FG; 1-3 FT) with four 3-pointers and ten rebounds, as well as three assists. Perry-Ellis followed it up with 16 points (6-14 FG; 1-4 3PT; 3-3 FT), eight rebounds, and six assists against Waubonsee Community College.

Division III: Hannah Malcomson, Rock Valley College
Against South Suburban College, she hit four 3-pointers, and finished with 21 points (8-14 FG; 1-3 FT) and three rebounds. Malcomson followed it up with seven points, 13 rebounds, and nine assists against Wilbur Wright College. She capped the week at Madison College by scoring 24 points on 9 of 23 shooting (3-13 3PT; 3-5 FT), eight rebounds, three steals, two assists, and one blocked shot.

 

December 16, 2019

Division II - District D: Taylor Feltner, College of Lake County
In her game against Kankakee Community College, Feltner scored 24 points on 8 of 19 shooting with five 3-pointers and five steals.

Division II - District L: La'Janique Perry-Ellis, Bryant & Stratton College
Against Joliet Junior College, she tallied 16 points (5-6 FG; 2-2 3PT; 4-4 FT), five rebounds, and there steals. Then against #1-ranked Kirkwood Community College (IA), Perry-Ellis poured in 24 points (8-19 FG; 1-6 3PT; 7-8 FT), to go along with four and two steals.

Division III: Carson Nitz, Rock Valley College
Against Olive-Harvey College, she hit five 3-pointers and registered a double-double of 23 points (7-16 FG; 5-10 3PT; 4-4 FT) and 11 rebounds, while also adding five assists and four steals. Nitz followed it up with 14 points (6-15 FG; 2-6 3PT), five boards, five assists, and two steals against Parkland College (IL).

 

December 9, 2019

Division II - District D: Sparkle Harris, Wilbur Wright College
Against Elgin Community College, scored 16 points on 7 of 13 shooting with a pair of three-pointers, and completed a double-double with 11 rebounds. She also had five assists and four steals.

Division II - District L: Kylah Collins, College of Lake County
Collins averaged 27.5 points and 12.5 rebounds over four games. Against Olive-Harvey College, she posted 26 points and ten boards, then followed a day later with 28 points and 13 rebounds against Harper College. Then against Trinity University JV, Collins was good for 27 points and 11 rebounds, before finishing the week with a 29-point, 16-rebound performance against Kennedy-King College.

Division III: Hannah Malcomson, Rock Valley College, and Mariel Franco, Elgin Community College
Against Black Hawk College, Malcomson netted 23 points thanks to four 3-pointers that were part of a 7 for 14 effort overall, while also going 5 for 10 at the free throw line. She added six rebounds, five steals, and three assists. Against Kankakee Community College, Malcomson tallied 26 points, four boards, and two assists. She again knocked down four long-range shots and was 11 for 20 from the floor.

Against Wilbur Wright College, Franco poured in 28 points on 12 of 18 shooting that included four makes from outside the arc, and also added four rebounds, three steals, and two assists. Then against Harper College, she went off for 37 points and buried nine 3-pointers, while adding eight rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Franco capped the week against Triton College by putting up a double-double of 23 points and ten rebounds. She hit five from three-point territory, and compiled four steals, two assists, and two blocks.

 

December 2, 2019

Division I: Claudine Hurt, Malcolm X College
Against Triton College scored six points and had four rebounds, six steals, and four assists. Then against Madison College, Hurt tallied a double-double of 15 points and 14 rebounds, to go along with eight assists and two steals.

Division II - District D: Daranesha Smith, Wilbur Wright College
Against the College of Lake County, she racked up 16 points (5-16 FG; 2-8 3PT; 4-6 FT), ten rebounds, two assists, and one block.

Division II - District L: Megan Teal, Black Hawk College
Against Des Moines Area Community College (IA), she posted a double-double of 19 points (5-15 FG; 2-6 3PT; 7-10 FT) and ten rebounds, and also collected three assists and a steal. Then against Augustana University JV, Teal amassed 19 points (7-8 FG; 1-6 3PT; 6-6 FT), four boards, three steals, and one assist.

Division III: Carson Nitz, Rock Valley College
Against Elgin Community College, she poured in 22 points (9-13 FG; 2-4 3PT; 2-2 FT), and also finished with four steals, two assists, and one rebound.

 

November 25, 2019

Division II - District D: Sparkle Harris, Wilbur Wright College
Against Truman College, she scored 27 points (12-29 FG; 3-8 3PT) along with ten steals for a double-double. She also tallied eight rebounds and five assists. And against Prairie State College, Harris went for 16 points (7-16 FG; 2-5 3PT), seven boards, six assists, and two steals.

Division II - District L: Alyssa Iverson, McHenry County College, and Katie Beebe, Waubonsee Community College, and Kennedy Perry from Milwaukee Area Technical College
Against Kishwaukee College, Iverson registered 21 points, six assists, and five steals. Then against South Suburban College, she tallied 23 points, six assists, and four steals.

Against Rock Valley College, Beebe earned a triple double of 12 points, 18 rebounds, and 13 blocks. She followed that up with a school-record 25-rebound night against Madison College, that was accompanied by 12 points and ten blocks for her second straight triple-double. The concluded the week with a season-high 26 points, 21 rebounds, and seven blocks. For the week, she averaged 16.7 points, 21.3 rebounds, and 10.0 blocks and was also named NJCAA Division II Women's Basketball Player of the Week.

Against South Suburban College, Perry had 23 points, six rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Then against Bay College (MI), she scored 17 points and posted three steals and a rebound. And she wrapped up the week against Carl Sandburg College by boasting 24 points, seven rebounds, four steals, and three assists.

 

November 18, 2019

Division II - District L: Cecsa Vardman, Kishwaukee College
Against Moraine Valley Community College, she scored 15 points and had five rebounds, three assists, and four steals. Then against Illinois Central Community College, Vardman registered 17 points, four boards, two assists, and two steals.

Division III: Aniah Williams, Madison College
Against Sauk Valley College, she posted 24 points, two rebounds, three assists, two blocks, and a steal. And against Carl Sandburg College, Williams tallied 17 points, six rebounds, three steals, and one assist.
