Battles Won Coaches Award
Battles Won Coaches Award, presented by the United States Marine Corps, recognizes a coach who has shown perseverance in overcoming adversity and exemplifies the United States Marine Corps' core values of honor, courage, and commitment.
Abigail Talley – College of DuPage (IL)
Abigail Talley currently serves as the head women's basketball coach at the College of DuPage. A former long-time high school coach, Talley completed her first season in the collegiate ranks as the Chaparrals head women's basketball coach in March of 2023. Talley led the DuPage women's basketball program to a 15-16 record. The Chaparrals captured the Region 4 championship title for the first time in 15 seasons and earned the program's most victories in nine seasons. Talley led DuPage to make an appearance in the NJCAA Division III Women's Basketball Great Lakes District Championship.
This past season, Talley coached three student-athletes to claim All-Region 4 honors including sophomores Katlyn Allen, Mykah Berkompas, and freshman Sierra Gibson. Talley was named the North Central Community College Conference champion (N4C) Coach of the Year. Before becoming head coach, Talley was an assistant coach at Romeoville High School where she spent the last three seasons serving in several capacities within the program since graduating from the school in 2013.
