Here are the 2023-24 Region 4 Women's Basketball Player of the Week recipients...

Week 1

Division II: Maya Mitchell, Rock Valley College
In 33 minutes, Maya was astronomical in RVC's opening night win against Kishwaukee College. She would erupt for 26 points, 23 rebounds, 9 steals, 4 blocks and 13 assists which would tie the schools single game record. In this game Maya would also help RVC in establishing school records for most points scored in a game and largest margin of victory.

Division III: Kiyah Robertson, Joliet Junior College
Kiyah had 14 of Joliet's 28 points at the half. She would end the contest with 20pts on 9-15 shooting, while hauling in 4 rebounds and dishing 2 assists in leading Joliet to victory.

 

Week 2

Division II: Mariya Sisco, College of Lake County
Mariya helped lead Lake County to a 3-0 week shooting 19-44, averaging 20.3pts, 9.0 rebs, 7.0 assists, and 5.3 steals per game. Mariya capped off the perfect week scoring a career high of 33 points on Saturday night.

Division III: Grace Harris, Joliet Junior College
Guard Grace Harris led Joliet to a 2-0 record for the week with wins over Kishwaukee (100-69) & Southeastern College (IA) (69-61). Against Kishwaukee, Grace earned her first career triple-double where she had 23 points, 12 rebounds, and 12 assists.

 

Week 3

Division II: Mariya Sisco, College of Lake County
Mariya helped lead Lake County to a 2-0 week, shooting 13-27, averaging 21.5 points, 10.0 rebounds, 5.5 assists, and 3.5 steals per game.

Division III: Grace Harris, Joliet Junior College
Guard Grace Harris led Joliet to #15 ranking in the recent NJCAA polls. Grace faced aggressive double teams all week, but still managed to average 13.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.5 blocks per game this week.

 

Week 4

Division I: Destiney Cox, Wilbur Wright College
Guard Destiney Cox led Wilbur Wright this week averaging 22.0pts, 5.0 rebs, 2.0 steals this week.

Division II: Elly Bentley, Carl Sandburg College
Guard Elly Bentley led her team in their victory over Elgin this week, scoring a season-high 32pts. She was 10-28 from the field, 12-17 from the line, and chipped in 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and a steal.

Division III: Kiyah Robertson, Joliet Junior College
Forward Kiyah Robertson led #15 Joliet with 20 points, 6 rebounds, 3 steals, and 1 block in their loss to #2 Minnesota West this week.

 

Week 5

Division I: Essence Funches, Wilbur Wright College
Forward Essence Funches tallied her first career double-double. For the week, she averaged 11.0 ppg, 16.0 rpg, 2.0 spg, and 1.0 bpg.

Division II: Macey Gandee, Oakton College
Center Macey Gandee led Oakton to a 2-1 record on the week, where she was 32-55 shooting, and averaged 24.0 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 2.67 spg, 2.67 bpg.

Division III: Maggie Grady, Joliet Junior College
Guard Maggie Grady picked up her scoring this week, as she scored in double figures in all three games. In a tough 3-point loss to Moraine Valley, Maggie recorded her first double-double when she posted 21 points and 11 rebounds. Maggie's averages for the week were 16.3ppg, 6.7 rpg, 2.0 apg, and 1.0 spg.

 

Week 6

Division I: Trinity Barnes, Triton College
Guard Trinity Barnes led the Trojans to a 3-0 week averaging 21.0 points, 6.3 assists, and 2.67 steals this week.

Division II: Deniza Fuentes, Moraine Valley Community College
Guard Deniza Fuentes led her team this week, scoring a career-high 37 points on Saturday. She was 18-38 from the field and 8-20 behind the arc on her way to averaging 26.0 ppg, 5.5 apg, and 5.0 rpg.

Division III: Kiyah Robertson, Joliet Junior College
Forward Kiyah Robertson led Joliet in their victory this week over Waubonsee, and leads Wolves with 25.0 ppg, 8.0 rpg, and 1.0 apg.

 

Week 7

Division I: Laura Rivera, Malcolm X College
Forward Laura Rivera led the Hawks to a 4-0 week averaging 15.0 points, 16.5 rebounds, and 3.75 blocks. Rivera currently leads Region 4 and NJCAA D-1 in rebounding and blocks per game.

Division II: Annika Bielskis, Waubonsee Community College
Guard Annika Bielskis led her team this week, setting a school record with eight 3-pointers in a game. On the week she was 20 for 29 from behind the arc for 61.9% shooting. For the week she averaged 20.0ppg, 1.0 apg, and 4.0 rpg.

 

Week 8

Division I: Nakiyah Callon, Olive Harvey College
Guard Nakiyah Callon led Olive Harvey to a 1-1 week averaging 15.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.0 assists.

Division III: Grace Harris, Joliet Junior College
Guard Grace Harris led the Wolves in a 1-2 week averaging 31.0 points, 12.0 rebounds, 6.7 assists, and 2.6 steals per game, while also being named the Illinois Central Holiday Tournament Player of The Tournament.

 

Week 9

Division II: Brynne Katcher, Morton College
Guard Brynne Katcher earns Player of the Week honors leading Morton to a 2-0 week. On the week, Katcher averaged 15.5 points, 12.0 rebounds, and 4.5 assists, while tallying her seventh double-double and seventh 20-point game of the season.

Division III: Grace Harris, Joliet Junior College
Guard Grace Harris led the Wolves in a 1-0 week scoring a career-high 32 points on 10 of 22 shooting, while going 4 for 8 from behind the arc. She also dished out seven assists and pulled down eight rebounds on her way to Player of the Week honors.

 

Week 10

Division I: Trinity Barnes, Triton College
Guard Trinity Barners led the Trojans to a 2-0 week pouring in 31 points in their game against Olive-Harvey College. Additionally, she hit the game-winning free throws to edge Sauk Valley Community College with seconds remaining. For the week, she averaged 22.0 points and 5.0 steals per game.

Division II: Sierra Gibson, College of DuPage
Guard Sierra Gibson led COD with a double-double against Elmhurst College JV, scoring 37 points along with ten boards. Over three games during the week, she averaged 24.0 points, 8.3 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 4.3 steals per game for player of the week honors

Division III: Kiyah Robertson, Joliet Junior College
Center Kiyah Robertson led the Wolves in a 1-0 week landing another double-double. This marked her fifth double-double in the past six games, scoring 21 points and collecting ten rebounds.

 

Week 11

Division I: Jordyn Coleman, Triton College
Center Jordyn Coleman led the Trojans to a 2-0 week on her way to player of the week honors. Coleman, who is fourth in the nation in rebounding, put up big numbers going 20 for 32 from the field. She averaged 24.0 points, 18.0 rebounds, and 1.0 block per game.

Division II: Sophia Remmel, Morton College
Guard Sophia Remmel earns player of the week honors leading Morton to a 3-0 week. Remmel shot 17 for 34 from the field, including going 11 for 17 from behind the arc. She averaged 18.3 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game.

Division III: Grace Harris, Joliet Junior College
Guard Grace Harris led the Wolves in a 1-1 week, shooting 14 of 31 and averaging 16.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 3.5 steals per game.

 

Week 12

Division I: Trinity Barnes, Triton College
Guard Trinity Barnes led the Trojans to a 3-0 week, while also tallying her 900th career point. Barnes finished the week 25 of 48 shooting from the field and 9 of 22 from behind the arc. She posted averages of 25.7 points, 4.3 assists, and 2.7 steals on her way to player of the week honors.

Division II: Macey Gandee, Oakton College
Center Macey Gandee earns player of the week honors leading Oakton to a 3-0 week. On the week, Gandee shot 21 for 37 from the field to average 14.6 points, while hauling in 10.0 rebounds and dishing out 2.0 assists per game. She also provided a boost on the defensive side of the ball, averaging 5.6 blocks to go along with 2.7 steals per game.

Division III: Kiyah Robertson, Joliet Junior College
Center Kiyah Robertson led the Wolves to a 1-2 week as she shot 18 for 48 from the field and 17 of 28 from the free throw line. Robertson averaged 17.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks per game.

 

Week 13

Division I: Trinity Barnes, Triton College
Guard Trinity Barnes led the Trojans to a 2-1 week on her way to back-to-back POW honors. Barnes averaged 26.7 points on 23 of 65 shooting from the field, 7.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 3.3 steals per game.

Division II: Faith Robertson, Olive-Harvey College
Guard Faith Robertson earns player of the week honors leading Olive-Harvey to a 2-1 week. Robertson was a scoring machine, tallying a career-high 40-point game and putting up massive numbers to average 33.7 points on 42 of 90 shooting to boost her season average to 26.2 points. She also hauled in 12.0 rebounds and dished out 3.7 assists per game.

Division III: Kiyah Robertson, Joliet Junior College
Center Kiyah Robertson led the Wolves to a 1-2 week as she shot 18 for 48 from the field and 17 of 28 from the free throw line. Robertson averaged 17.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks per game.

 

Week 14

Division I: Shelby Veltrop, Sauk Valley Community College
Center Shelby Veltrop led the Skyhawks to a 3-0 week on her way to player of the week honors. Veltrop averaged 24.0 points on 32 of 43 shooting (74%) from the field, 12.0 rebounbs, 3.7 blocks, and 3.0 assists per game.

Division II: Elly Bentley, Carl Sandburg College
Guard Elly Bentley earns player of the week accolades after leading the Chargers to a 2-1 week. On the week, Bentley surpassed 1,000 points for her career, while averaging 21.3 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game.

Division III: Ashanti Brown, Joliet Junior College
Guard Ashanti Brown led Joliet to a win over Division II Milwaukee Area Tech College, who previously beat them just three weeks ago. After a back-and-forth battle towards the end of the game, Ashanti put the Wolves up for good when she went the length of the floor with 5.5 seconds left to score in the lane for a 77-75 victory. She finished the game with 21 points, five assists, and three steals.

 

Week 15

Division I: Shelby Veltrop, Sauk Valley Community College
Center Shelby Veltrop led the Skyhawks to a 2-0 week, clinching the Arrowhead Conference Co-Championship and securing back-to-back player of the week honors. Veltrop averaged 23.0 points on 32 for 43 shooting (74%), 12.0 rebounds, 3.7 blocks, and 3.0 assists per game.

Division II: Miracle Thomas, Prairie State College
Guard Miracle Thomas led her team to a 2-0 week with back-to-back triple-doubles to earn player of the week honors. Thomas was 13 of 32 from the field and 3 for 6 from three, averaging 25.0 points, 13.0 rebounds, 10.0 assists, 1.0 block, and 3.5 steals.

Division III: Maggie Grady, Joliet Junior College
Forward Maggie Grady was a bright spot for Joliet this week as they went 0-1. Grady moved over to guard to help her team, and was 3 for 10 from the field and 2 of 4 from beyond the arc. She registered nine points, three assists, three rebounds, and three steals.
