Carl Sanburg College's Peyton Bowman double-dipped on national weekly awards after it was announced Wednesday she had been named a national player of the week by two separate organizations. The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) selected Bowman as the Tachikara Division II Women's Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week for September 30-October 6 (Week 6), while the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) tabbed her the Sports Imports/AVCA Two Year College Player of Week for October 9. The NJCAA honor is the first this season and second of Bowman career's after garnering similar recognition following the opening week of play in 2018 (read here). It is also the first such honor for the Chargers this season.

Bowman led Carl Sandburg College to a perfect 6-0 week, and did so by racking up 100 kills and just five hitting errors for an incredible .641 attack percentage. The 6'3" sophomore middle blocker posted a season-high 22 kills against Minnesota West Community College. For the week, the reigning Region IV Player of the Year and NJCAA All-America, also had 19 blocks and six aces. Bowman, from Sciota, Illinois, currently ranks first nationally with a .537 hitting efficiency, while also ranking second in the nation for kills with 400, eighth in total blocks at 107.0, and eighth in kills per set with 4.21.

Carl Sanburg College is 22-7 and receiving votes in the NJCAA Division II Poll.
