DuPage rides Region 4 title wave, wins third NJCAA National Championship

GLEN ELLYN, ILL. & ROCHESTER, MINN. - The College of DuPage women's volleyball ended a pair of lengthy and significant championship droughts in 2022, winning the NJCAA Region 4 Division III Tournament for the first time since 2003 before claiming their first NJCAA Division III Women's Volleyball National Championship for the first time since 1999. Freshman Chloey Myers was named both the Region 4 Tournament Most Valuable Player and the NJCAA Division III Tournament MVP. Tolis Koskinaris was awarded the Region 4 Coach of the Year, and was joined by his staff in receiving the NJCAA Division III Coach of the Tournament.

The top-seeded Chaparrals began postseason play with a sweep of fourth-seeded Madison College (25-20, 25-14, 25-17), and then took down second-seeded Joliet Junior College in four sets (25-14, 23-25, 25-16, 25-9) to snap the 19-year drought between region titles. Alyssa Fountain led the way with 13 kills, while Myers added 11 kills and a block. Olivia Witek added nine kills and 3.5 blocks to join Fountain and Myers on the Region 4 All-Tournament Team.

The College of DuPage, ranked #3 in the final NJCAA Division III Poll, was awarded the #2 seed and a bye into the quarterfinal round. After a sweep (25-21, 25-18, 25-22) of tenth-seeded Finger Lakes Community College, the Chaps handled third-seeded Century College in three sets (25-16, 25-18, 25-20) to advance into the title match against three-time defending champion and top-seeded Owens Community College. After splitting the first two sets, DuPage rolled past the OCC by a final score of (25-21, 22-25, 25-18, 25-18) to win the program's third national title. (Story: NJCAA | DuPage)

Myers tallied 19 kills in the title match and averaged 17 kills per match in the tournament, while Fountain also had 19 kills against Owens and averaged 13.67 kills per match in Rochester as the duo was named to the 2022 NJCAA Division III All-Tournament Team.
