Malcolm X College wins first Region 4 championship

CHICAGO, ILL. & OTTUMWA, IOWA - Following five years without women's volleyball, Malcolm X College rolled to it's first Region 4 Division I Women's Volleyball Tournament Championship with a 3-0 sweep of Kennedy-King College on November 1. Despite missing All-Region setter Rachelle Cauinian, the Hawks completed a resounding win by scores of 25-5, 25-7, 25-4. The win featured 27 services aces, led by nine from Alejandra Martinez. Nataly Delgado was tops with five kills. John McEleney was named Region 4 Coach of the Year.

The win propelled Malcolm X College (3-12) to the NJCAA Midwest District A Championship against Region 11 winner Indian Hills Community College on November 4. The Hawks fell lost 3-0 to complete their season.
