Region 4 Hall of Fame welcomes nine-member Class of 2025 for induction

The NJCAA Region 4 Hall of Fame is pleased to announce a nine-member induction Class of 2025. The group includes eight student-athletes, one of which is also recognized for lifetime achievement, and one national championship team that all excelled during their time competing in Region 4. The inductees represent five different Region 4 schools, including three inductees from Madison College, two each from Joliet Junior College and Oakton College, and one from the College of DuPage.
47 Fall 2024 Region 4 Student-Athletes earn NJCAA All-American accolades

The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) has released its list of All-Americans for the 2024-25 fall sports season, and 47 student-athletes representing Region 4 were recognized. The group includes 12 from men's cross country, five in women's volleyball, four from women's cross country, and three from men's and women's soccer, as well as 20 College of DuPage football players. There are 17 first team recipients, 18 second team honorees, three third team selections, and eight honorable mention distinctions. The student-athletes represent ten Region 4 institutions.
DuPage's Solis runs to national title, Harper finishes national runners-up

RICHMOND, VIR. - Region 4 saw some tremendous representation at the NJCAA Division II & III Women's Cross Country Championships on November 9. The weekend was highlighted by two-time defending national champion Harper College earning a runner-up finish, while Carmen Solis of the College of DuPage sprinted to an individual crown ahead of the Hawks Isabella Wojciechowski in the Division III race.

Harper three-peats, Moraine Valley narrowly comes out on top at Region 4 Championships

LOCKPORT, ILL. - The two NJCAA Region 4 Women's Cross Country Championships that were awarded October 26 came about in two very different ways. Moraine Valley Community College barely snuck by Carl Sandburg College to claim its second Division II crown in the last four years, while Harper College completed a three-peat in Division III. Freshman Linda Koech of Carl Sandburg College and Hawks sophomore Isabella Wojciechowski broke the tape to earn Region 4 Runner of the Year honors in their respective races. Dimitri Dimizas of MVCC and Jim Macnider from Harper College were awarded Region 4 Coach of the Year accolades, with Macnider claiming his for the tenth time.

Harper successfully defends NJCAA crown, Alberts sprints to individual national title

HUNTSVILLE, ALA. - Harper College was a dominant force at the 2023 NJCAA Women's Cross Country Championships at John Hunt Park, winning the Division III title for the second consecutive year and the fifth time in school history. Sophomore Lilly Alberts coasted to an individual national championship as the Hawks paced a healthy contingent of 23 Region 4 runners in both Division III and Division II.

Waubonsee, Harper run to Region 4 championships

GENEVA, ILL. - Harper College successfully defended its region crown, while Waubonsee Community College snapped a ten-year title drought at the 2023 NJCAA Region 4 Division II & III Women's Cross Country Championships on Saturday, October 28. The Skyhawks picked up their sixth region championship in Division II with 26 points, while the Hawks registered an impressive team total of 19 to take the Division III banner for the second consecutive. Carl Sandburg College's Sharon Yego and Lilly Alberts of Harper College earned individual titles, with Eric Baron and Jim Macnider earning Region 4 Coach of the Year accolades.

Harper, Carl Sandburg race to Region 4 titles, Hawks collect fourth NJCAA championship

KENOSHA, WISC. - As if connected in some strange way, both Carl Sandburg College and Harper College returned to the top of the women's cross country podium for the first time since 2019 with respective team titles at the 2022 NJCAA Region 4 Division II & Division III Women's Cross Country Championship on October 29. The Chargers registered 99 points to defeat second place Sauk Valley Community College by 13, while the Hawks' 36 points narrowly paced runner-up Joliet Junior College (42) and third place College of DuPage (78). Sophomore Lillian Buzani of the College of DuPage clocked in with the best overall time at 20:18.5 to earn Region 4 Athlete of the Year in Division III after finishing second as a freshman, and third-year runner Izamar Rodriguez took advantage of her extra eligibility to improve on her sixth-place run in 2021 to win the Region 4 Division II Athlete of the Year with a time of 20:53.7. Rodney Blue of Carl Sandburg College and Jim Macnider of Harper College took home Region 4 Coach of the Year accolades.
