The NJCAA Region 4 Hall of Fame is pleased to announce a nine-member induction Class of 2024. The group includes six student-athletes and three coaches that excelled during their time competing in Region 4. The inductees represent six different Region 4 schools, including two inductees each for the College of DuPage, Oakton College, and Rock Valley College.

The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) has released its list of All-Americans for the 2023-24 fall sports season, and 18 student-athletes representing Region 4 were recognized. The group includes six from men's cross country, five in women's volleyball, three from women's cross country and women's soccer, and one from men's soccer. There are eight first team recipients, seven second team honorees, and three honorable mention distinctions. The student-athletes represent eight Region 4 institutions.

Region 4 dominates as Harper edges DuPage for NJCAA championship

HUNTSVILLE, ALA. - Runners from Region 4 were all over John Hunt Park for the 2023 NJCAA Men's Cross Country Championships, and the region absolutely dominated in the Division III race. Harper College claimed the school's ninth national title with region foes College of DuPage and Joliet Junior College also in the top-four. In all, 34 runners from Region 4 competed in the Division III and Division II races.

Three-peat for Carl Sandburg, while Harper reclaims Region 4 glory

GENEVA, ILL. - One run of dominance continued while another reclaimed its place after a three-year hiatus as Carl Sandburg College and Harper College raced to the 2023 NJCAA Region 4 Division II & III Men's Cross Country Championships, respectively, on Saturday, October 28 at the Northwestern Medicine Cross Country Course. The Chargers earned their third consecutive Region 4 crown with a six-point victory over runner-up Sauk Valley Community College, while Harper College sprinted to its first title since seeing a long run of success halted after the 2019 season. Sophomore Allan Kipruto of CSC and freshman Kevin Diederich of College of DuPage were the Region 4 Runners of the Year after taking home individual titles. Carl Sandburg College's Rodney Blue and Harper College's Jim Macnider earned Region 4 Coach of the Year accolades.

The group includes six from men's cross country and women's volleyball, five in women's cross country and women's soccer, and three from men's soccer. There are 12 first team recipients, seven second team honorees, and six honorable mention distinctions. The student-athletes represent nine Region 4 institutions.

KENOSHA, WISC., MILLEDGEVILLE, GEORGIA., & TALLAHASSEE, FLA. - In a repeat of the 2021 meet, Carl Sandburg College and the College of DuPage repeated as 2022 NJCAA Region 4 Men's Cross Country Division II and Division III champions, respectively. The Chargers earned 50 points to best runner-up Moraine Valley Community College and two other teams in the Division II race, while the Chaparrals finished with 45 points to top Joliet Junior College and Harper College. Sophomore Calton Kibet of Carl Sandburg College successfully defended his individual title from his freshman season with a time of 5:15.3 to earn the Region 4 Division II Athlete of the Year, and first year runner Nicholas Keeling's time of 5:16.1 put him atop the medal stand as the Region 4 Division III Athlete of the Year. Rodney Blue of Carl Sandburg College and Robert Cervenka of the College of DuPage were each honored as the Region 4 Coach of the Year.

MALTA, ILL. - There was little doubt who the top runners and teams were at the 2021 Region 4 Division II & III Men's Cross Country Championship on October 30. When the final scores were tallied, Carl Sandburg College claimed the Division II title and the College of DuPage took home the Division III hardware. Individually, the Chargers' Calton Kibet and Joliet Junior College's Hunter Phillips earned Runner of the Year accolades as the first place finishers.

GALESBURG, ILL - A fresh face and an old reliable came away as the top teams at the 2019 Region IV Divisions I & III Men's Cross Country Championships on Saturday, October 26 at Carl Sandburg College. In its first year as a competitive program, Bryant & Stratton College took the DI crown with a 77-point day, besting second place Morton College with 94 points. In DIII, perennial power Harper College secured yet another title with 19 points, finishing 17 points ahead of Joliet Junior College. Waubonsee Community College sophomore Jordan VanBarriger took Runner of the Year accolades in Division I after crossing the finish line first with a time of 26.41.8, while sophomore Jacob Melgosa made sure he didn't finish runner-up for a second straight year by posting a time of 27:55.4 to best his own teammate by ten second en route to DIII Runner of Year honors. With their team victories, Casey Green of Bryant & Stratton College and Jim Macnider of Harper College were each named Region IV Coach of the Year.

Harper's Melgosa earns NJCAA Runner of the Week

The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) has named Harper College's Jacob Melgosa as the Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for September 23-29 (Week 5). The award is the first such honor for Melgosa, and the first this season for the Hawks.

The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) has selected Waubonsee Community College's Jordan VanBarriger as the Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for September 9-15 (Week 3). The award, which the NJCAA began this season, is the first for VanBarriger, and the first for the Chiefs.
