Region 4 enjoys impressive showing at NJCAA Div. III Women's Golf Championships

CHAUTAUQUA, NEW YORK - Six golfers from Region 4 competed at the 2024 NJCAA Division III Women's Golf Championships at Chautauqua Golf Club, and all six returned with NJCAA All-American honors. The College of DuPage's Haley Cassells earned national runner-up accolades with a second-place finish one stroke ahead of teammate Ivy Burnett. Megan Redig of Rock Valley College was fourth.
86 Region 4 Spring Student-Athletes earn NJCAA All-American honors

The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) has released its list of All-Americans for the 2023-24 spring sports season, and 86 student-athletes representing Region 4 were recognized. The group includes 66 from men's and women's track & field, eight from baseball, six in women's golf, and three each from men's golf and softball. There are 30 first team recipients, 29 second team honorees, six third team selections, and 21 honorable mention distinctions. The student-athletes represent eight Region 4 institutions.
Wasson leads Carl Sandburg to repeat Region 4 crown

BYRON, ILL. - The Carl Sandburg College women's golf team successfully defended their region title by claiming the 2024 NJCAA Region 4 Women's Golf Tournament championship on April 14-15 at PrairieView Golf Club. The Chargers shot team scores of 371 and 358 to post a 36-hole team total of 729. Sophomore Ellie Wasson was the Region 4 Medalist with a 176 total to beat Megan Redig of Rock Valley College by a single stroke. Gail Hannam was named Region 4 Coach of the Year for the second time.
Sandburg women’s golf wraps up season at NJCAA nationals

GARDEN CITY, KAN. - The Carl Sandburg College women's golf team made its second national tournament appearance in program history at last week's NJCAA Division I Women's Golf Championship at Buffalo Dunes. Sandburg placed 15th in the tournament with a 72-hole total of 1,500. The Chargers opened with a first-round score of 366 on Tuesday, followed by rounds of 370, 373 and 391.

Carl Sandburg secures first Region 4 title in women's golf

NORTHBROOK, ILL. - It was a two-horse race to the finish line at the second-ever Region 4 Women's Golf Tournament, held October 3-4 at Heritage Oaks Golf Club, and in the end, Carl Sandburg College recorded a resounding victory over Alexandria Technical & Community College (MN/Region 13). The Chargers finished with a two-round, 36-hole team total of 756 to earn a 188-stroke victory over the Legends (944). Abby Hamman of Alexandria Tech was the medalist with a 163 (+19) after rounds of 81 and 82.

NJCAA cancels 2020 spring seasons, winter championships

The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) has announced the cancellation of the 2020 spring sports seasons, as well as the cancellation of the remaining winter championships. The announcement comes amid the worldwide COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic.
